Nelson Pino, singer
Nelson was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1960. Owner of a strong voice with a baritone register, he is at the present time, the most sought-after singer in the Montevideo tango scene. He began his singing career in 1981 at the Carlos Brussa Theatre in Montevideo. That same year, he appeared with Anibal Oberlin on the TV tango program Café Concert in Montevideo. He appeared at important tango venues such us Portofino, La Cumparsita, Taguería del 40, among others. He sang with such renowned tango orchestras as Donato Racciatti, Walter Mendez, Antonio Cervinio, Cesar Zagnoli and the Sexteto Tipico Bohemio, in Montevideo and Buenos Aires. He has performed in the United States, Canada, and Japan and has recorded with some of the best bandoneón masters, such as Toto D’amario and Donato Racciatti.
