Diana LeGrand Sundsvold was born in 1978 in Cleveland, Ohio. Studying with her mother, she started to play the violin and the piano at 2 1/2 years of age. She traveled extensively around the world with her family until settling in Italy where she studied with the Russian virtuoso Vadim Brodsky. In 1994 she was accepted into the high school program of the prestigious North Carolina School of the Arts (NCSA) where she studied with the late Elaine Richey (former 1st violinist of the Razamousky Quartet). In 1997 she entered the Undergraduate program with a full scholarship studying with Robert Mann (founding member of the Julliard String Quartet and former 1st violinist) and with Nicholas Mann (2nd violinist of the Mendelssohn String Quartet) and received her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance in June 2000. In July of 2000 she received, with an excellent evaluation, her diploma in Violin Performance from the Conservatory of Modena, Italy.

That same summer she toured Europe as a soloist with the International Music Program of NCSA. In the fall of 2000, she was accepted with a full scholarship into the Graduate Program of NCSA and in June of 2002 received her Master of Music in Violin Performance.   She performs extensively as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra player in Italy and the United States of America.
